Giridih, March 14 -- A 60-year-old woman died after being hit by a speeding hyva truck in Jharkhand's Giridih district, following which angry villagers set the vehicle on fire.

The incident occurred near Kisgo village under the Hirodih police station area when the woman was crossing the road on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Nanki Devi, wife of Naresh Singh and a resident of Itahri village in Banka district of Bihar.

She had come to visit her relatives at Gadikala in Kisgo village.

According to police, the hyva truck hit the woman while she was crossing the road, resulting in her death on the spot. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee from the scene after the accident.
