Kasaragod, Feb. 2 -- An 18-year-old girl was allegedly hacked to death by her father at their residence at Thuminad in Kunjathur near Manjeswaram, on Monday, police said.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Mariyam Jumaila (18). Police arrested her father Ummer Farooq, a gulf returnee, in the case.
The incident took place around 5pm, when Ummer Farooq barged into the house. An altercation was reported after which he allegedly attacked her daughter with a lethal weapon.
Locals rushed the injured girl to nearby hospital and later shifted her to a hospital at Mangalore, but could not save her life.
