Shillong, Sept. 16 -- Eight ministers in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government tendered their resignations today, clearing the decks for a major cabinet reshuffle in the state.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who leads the National People's Party (NPP)-led coalition, met Governor C H Vijayashankar at Raj Bhavan to formally submit the resignations.
The new council of ministers will be sworn in at 5 pm today, officials confirmed.
Those who stepped down include several significant ministers such as Health Minister AL Hek of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh of the United Democratic Party (UDP), and Social Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh of the NPP.
