New Delhi, Nov. 10 -- Eight people were killed and more than 24 injured in a high-intensity explosion that tore through a car near the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening.

The blast set multiple vehicles ablaze and shattered nearby windowpanes. Several other people are feared injured, an official said. Police have sounded high alert across Delhi and NCR following the incident. According to the Delhi Fire Services, seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot as police cordoned off the area.
