Bengaluru, Feb. 11 -- Bengaluru Police have detained eight foreign nationals, including a woman, for allegedly over-staying in India without valid visas. They have been taken under custody from the Sanjayanagar area of the city, officials said on Wednesday.

According to police, the action followed a routine verification drive conducted in the locality. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the detained individuals, reportedly from African nations, had overstayed despite expiry of their visa tenure in violation of immigration norms.

The detainees have been handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for further verification of their documents and legal status.
