Kolkata, Sept. 23 -- Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Mayor Firhad Hakim today appealed to the citizens not to venture out for the day after an over 300 mm rainfall spread over five-six hours lashed the major parts of this metropolis causing inundation.
Camping at the KMC's control room along with his officials, Hakim said the efforts to drain out accumulated water were failing since the canals overflowed after swelling of the Ganga water, which was also connected with the turbulent bay of Bengal in South 24 Parganas district.
