New Delhi, Jan. 13 -- Delhi's Education Minister Ashish Sood on Tuesday called for a united national effort to keep educational institutions free from drugs, saying addiction destroys not just individual students but also the future of families and the nation.

He was addressing students and faculty at the University of Delhi during the Drug-Free Campus Campaign, held in the presence of the Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan and union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Speaking as a former student of Delhi University, Sood said he was not addressing the gathering as a minister but as an alumnus and a fellow traveller. He recalled his student days and said the university had shaped his journey in life.
