Kolkata, March 18 -- In a decisive move to ensure administrative neutrality ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has removed 11 District Magistrates and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner, following earlier removals of the state's top bureaucrats and police officials.
In a notification issued on March 18, the Commission directed the immediate transfer and posting of senior IAS officers as District Magistrates-cum-District Election Officers (DEOs) across key districts, signalling a continued effort to tighten administrative neutrality in poll-bound West Bengal.
