Kolkata, Feb. 21 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has begun deploying central armed forces in West Bengal even before the formal announcement of the Assembly election schedule.

A total of 480 companies will be deployed.

The deployment will take place in two phases.

In the first phase, 240 companies will be deployed by March 1. These include 110 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 55 companies of the Border Security Force (BSF), 27 companies of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), 27 companies of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and 21 companies of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
