Kolkata, Feb. 21 -- The Election Commission of India has initiated the deployment of central armed forces in West Bengal even before the formal announcement of the Assembly election schedule.
The deployment will take place in two phases, with a total of 480 companies being stationed in the state initially.
According to official communication issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the first phase will see the arrival of 240 companies of central forces in the state by March 1.
These include 110 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force, 55 companies of the Border Security Force, 27 companies of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, 27 companies of the Sashastra Seema Bal, and 21 companies of the Central Industrial Security Force.
