Kolkata, March 29 -- In an unusual measure, the Election Commission of India has transferred officers-in-charge of 170 police stations across West Bengal, including 31 in Kolkata and 142 in the districts, marking one of the largest pre-poll reshuffles in the state.
The sweeping transfers cover key constituencies such as Bhabanipur, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is contesting with Suvendu Adhikari, and Nandigram, where the Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari is in the fray concurrently.
Notably, both constituencies have witnessed high-stakes political battles, with Adhikari contesting in Nandigram while also challenging Banerjee in Bhabanipur.
