New Delhi, Jan. 16 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the deadline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls for West Bengal, Goa, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, and Puducherry till January 19.

This is with reference to January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, allowing claims and objections to be filed until January 19, 2026.

In a communication issued on Thursday, the Commission said it had considered requests from Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) and other relevant factors before deciding to extend the schedule.

The order, signed by Under Secretary Sandeep Kumar, refers to an earlier ECI letter dated October 27, 2025, which had laid down the original schedule for the Special Intensive Revision.
