Kolkata, April 30 -- The Election Commission strongly denied the Trinamool Congress allegation that there were outsiders inside the strong room, claiming that the segregation process of the postal ballots was taking place following all the prescribed norms.

The controversy erupted after a Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member released CCTV footage purportedly showing unknown individuals moving inside the strong room.

The footage triggered sharp reactions from the ruling party, which alleged irregularities and possible tampering.

Addressing a late evening press conference, Chief Electoral Officer Monoj Agarwal rejected the allegations and provided a detailed explanation of the process.
