New Delhi, Jan. 22 -- The Election Commission of India has officially allotted the "Whistle" symbol to Tamil actor Vijay's party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and the "Battery Torch" symbol to actor Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) for the upcoming General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu in 2026.
As per the letter addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer, Tamil Nadu, Chennai, the Election Commission has accepted the application of the following parties under Para 10B of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam whose headquarters is in Chennai has been allotted the common symbol "Whistle" for use in all Assembly Constituencies in the State of Tamil Nadu.
