Kolkata, March 23 -- Eastern Railway's Engineering Department replaced 11 manned level-crossing gates and completed rehabilitation of 13 bridges in February, highlighting a concerted push toward enhanced operational safety and smoother train movements across the network, an official said today.
In a major boost to public safety and rail throughput, the department successfully eliminated 11 manned level-crossing gates and replaced them with Limited Height Subways (LHS) and strategic diversions, effectively removing potential points of conflict between rail and road traffic.
Further strengthening the structural integrity of the network, the department completed rehabilitation of 13 bridges, ensuring long-term durability.
