Shimla, Nov. 30 -- Thanks to the early onset of winter, the Lakkar Bazar Ice-Skating Rink in Shimla is likely to open almost 10 to 15 days ahead of the usual schedule.
With night temperatures in the area plunging to between minus one and zero degrees Celsius, the conditions have become ideal for rapid ice formation at the country's oldest natural ice-skating rink.
Rink officials have confirmed that the first layer of ice has already formed, providing a strong start to the season.
The ice-making process, which began on Monday, involves spraying water on the rink surface every hour during the night as temperatures fall below freezing. This steady drop in temperature has accelerated the freezing process significantly.
