Kolkata, Oct. 13 -- A Durgapur sub divisional court remanded three men to 10-day police custody for their alleged involvement in the gangrape of a medical student from Odisha, studying at a private medical college in West Bengal's Paschim Bardhaman district, today.

The accused have been charged with gangrape and criminal conspiracy under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), Durgapur, granted the prosecution's plea seeking police custody to facilitate interrogation and to trace other individuals suspected to be involved in the crime.

Earlier, the trio - a male classmate and two others - were detained by the police last night and they were later arrested after prolonged interrogation. ...
