Chennai, May 1 -- Months after the Railways Ministry approved the Tamil Nadu government's proposal for the transfer of Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) of Chennai and its merger with Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was forwarded to the Board seeking final approval for the formal takeover.
Southern Railway has finally forwarded the draft MoU for the takeover of MRTS by Chennai Metro Rail Limited to the Railway Board for approval, it said in a post.
Once the Railway Board gives it nod, the Tamil Nadu government will formally sign a MoU with the Southern Railway to commence the taking over process of MRTS by the CMRL.
