Chennai, Dec. 4 -- Legendary film producer AVM Saravanan, the man behind the iconic production house, AVM, known for rolling out many a box office hits including Rajinikanth's Sivaji: The Boss (2007) and Kamal Hassan's Sakalakala Vallavan (1982), passed away in Chennai early on Thursday due to age-related illness.
The end came a day after he celebrated his 86th birthday.
He was survived by his producer son MS Guhan and daughter Usha.
He was under treatment for some time. He had also served briefly as the Sheriff of Madras.
AVM studios is an iconic identity of Tamil film industry, founded in 1945 when Chennai was the hub for South Indian films, by AV Meyyappan Chettiyar, father of Saravanan.
