Washington, June 25 -- US President Donald Trump has slammed leading American media agencies The New York Times and CNN accusing them of spreading fake news and "demeaning one of the most successful military operations in US history", referring to Operation Midnight Hammer under which US forces targeted three key Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.
On Tuesday, CNN reported that the US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, carried out over the weekend, did not really dismantle the country's nuclear programme but merely derailed it by months.
The New York Times published a similar report on Tuesday, saying that US strikes sealed off the entrances to the Iranian facilities but did not collapse their underground buildings.
