Chennai, Oct. 22 -- The sale of liquor through the state government-owned Tamil NaduState Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) has recorded an all time high of Rs 790 crore duringthis Diwali festival.
The three-day sales from October 18 to 20 was Rs 790 crore, the highest revenue earned bythe state government during the Diwali festival sale, eclipsing perious recorded, reports said.
Of the total 4,787 retail outlets, the average daily sales would be around Rs 150 crore andit would swell to about Rs 170 to Rs 180 crores during weekends and festival holidays likePongal, Deepavali and New Year.
Reports said the sales of Tasmac liquor during the last year's Diwali festival was Rs 490 crores.
