Srinagar, Aug. 29 -- The diamond jubilee of the battle of Haji Pir was solemnly observed in Boniyar area of Baramulla district, marking 60 years since one of the most decisive victories of the 1965 Indo-Pak War.
The event held yesterday honoured the extraordinary bravery and indomitable spirit of Indian soldiers who scaled steep ridges under enemy fire to secure the strategically significant Haji Pir Pass.
Army said the day commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Pir Panjal War Memorial, Boniyar.
The solemn tribute was led by General Officer Commanding of Srinagar based Army's Chinar Corps Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava and joined by the General Officer Commanding, Dagger Division, and proud veterans of the Battle of Haji ...
