Shimla, Feb. 4 -- In view of recent heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of the north-western Himalayan region, the Defence Geoinformatics Research Establishment (DGRE) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation, has issued a moderate avalanche warning for several districts across Himachal Pradesh and other Himalayan states for the next 24 hours.
According to the Avalanche Warning Bulletin (AWB) issued by DGRE (formerly SASE), Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba and Kinnaur districts of Himachal Pradesh have been placed under Avalanche Danger Level-3 (Orange), indicating unsafe snow conditions at higher altitudes after fresh snowfall.
The warning is applicable above 3,000 metres in Lahaul-Spiti and Chamba, and above 3,000 metres in Kinnaur. Ku...
