Varanasi, Jan. 15 -- Despite the biting cold, devotees in the religious and spiritual city of Kashi have been taking a dip of faith in the Ganga at the ghats since dawn on Thursday, the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti.

People are performing ritualistic bathing and offering donations at the major ghats of Kashi, Dashashwamedh, Sheetla, Rajendra Prasad, Darbhanga, Shivala, Rana Mahal, Assi, Bhadaini, Ravidas Ghat, and others.

Meanwhile, long queues of devotees have formed puja at Baba Vishwanath's temple, and the entire complex is resounding with chants of 'Har Har Mahadev'.
