Amaravati, Oct. 1 -- A well-marked low-pressure area over the west-central Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards and was centered over the same region at 0830 hours on Wednesday.

The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 9.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwestwards with height.

The system is likely to intensify into a depression over the region within the next 12 hours.

Continuing its north-northwestward movement, it may further strengthen into a deep depression and is expected to cross the South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coast during the early hours of October 3, according to the Meteorological Centre.
