Chennai, Jan. 7 -- Met office on Wednesday said yesterday's Well Marked Low Pressure Area concentrated into a Depression andwould intensify further, marking the 21st Cyclonic disturbance in the month of January since 1891, as various districts in Tamil Nadu, including Cauvery delta, southern and Northern districts expected to receive heavy to very heavy rains till January 11.
The formation of a system over the Bay in January, which is rather unsual, meant that the Northeast Monsoon is yet to withdraw fromthe South Peninsular India and has spilled over to January.
The Northeast Monsoon was to have withdrawn on December 30, 2025, but it is still continuin, a Met official said.
