Udupi, Jan. 27 -- A wheelchair-bound retired Army officer on Tuesday alleged that he was denied toll exemption and subjected to humiliation by staff at a toll plaza in Karnataka, triggering widespread public outrage after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The incident occurred at the Sasthan toll plaza on National Highway-66 in Udupi district when the former officer, travelling in a private vehicle, sought exemption from paying the toll. In the video shared online, the ex-serviceman is seen explaining his disability and military background while toll staff insist on payment.
