New Delhi, Oct. 11 -- union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that demographic changes in India's population, especially the increase in the Muslim population and decline in the Hindu population is due to "infiltration and not due to fertility rate".

Delivering the 'Narendra Mohan Memorial Lecture' on the topic 'Infiltration, Demographic Change, and Democracy' here, Shah said, "Muslim population has increased at a rate of 24.6 percent, while the Hindu population has decreased by 4.5 percent", a Home Ministry statement said.
