Ranchi, Feb. 10 -- Political activity has intensified in Jharkhand ahead of the biennial elections to two Rajya Sabha seats due later this year. Of the two seats, one has remained vacant since the demise of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren on August 4 last year, while the other will fall vacant following the completion of BJP leader Deepak Prakash's tenure.

Within the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), discussions have gained momentum over nominating Shibu Soren's daughter Anjani Soren to the Rajya Sabha. Party leaders and workers believe that representation of the Soren family in Parliament has both emotional and political significance for the party, especially as no family member is currently part of either House.
