New Delhi, April 27 -- Residents of Delhi on Monday reeled under intense heat as temperatures across the city breached the 42degC mark for the third day in a row.

Safdarjung, Delhi's base weather station, reported a marginal increase in the maximum temperature, which stood at 42.3degC, -- 3.3 notches above normal.

The highest maximum temperatures in the national capital were recorded at Ridge and Ayanagar, which touched 43.8degC and 43.2degC, respectively.

The heat is likely to continue for another day, before recording a fall of 3-5degC from Wednesday onwards, according to the forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
