New Delhi, Dec. 1 -- Delhi Police's Cyber unit in south-west district has dismantled an interstate syndicate that preyed on job seekers with fake offers of foreign employment. The police have arrested three suspects, including an assistant bank manager, and recovered electronic devices and cash.
The syndicate's operation came to light after a complaint was filed by a man who lost his job during the COVID-19 pandemic. Lured by a WhatsApp message promising a chef's visa for New Zealand, the victim was persuaded to pay Rs 1.80 lakh after being shown fake visa and registration documents.
The fraudsters ceased contact once the payment was made.
