New Delhi, Feb. 3 -- The national capital's average air quality on Tuesday continued to reel under the 'poor' category, with an index value of 272, as per the pollution monitoring body Central Pollution Control Board.

The prominent pollutants that affected city's air the most remained to be the PM 2.5 particles, as per the observations made from the 39 air monitoring stations spread across different parts of the city, including the hotspots.

However, as per the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), there is a likelihood of drop in the average index value, and air quality may improve to 'moderate' category on Thursday.
