New Delhi, Jan. 29 -- The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday accused the Delhi government of causing an acute crisis in the state's education system due to a severe shortage of permanent teachers.

Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav said that government schools are operating with approximately 44,000 permanent teachers against a required strength of 80,000.

He claimed that over 10,000 teaching posts remain vacant, forcing schools to rely heavily on about 23,000 to 24,000 guest and contractual teachers. According to Yadav, this situation has adversely affected teaching quality and destabilized the education framework for more than 18 lakh students.
