Shillong, Dec. 9 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said that the delay in releasing over Rs 700 crore bills to contractors working under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) was due to the union government's decision to halt funds to all states.
JJM is a Mission Mode programme which was to end on March 2024, and the union cabinet had decided to stop fundings to all states, the Chief Minister told reporters.
"However, the union cabinet later decided to extend its flagship JJM programme till ongoing projects are concluded, subject to an audit of schemes implemented throughout the country," Sangma said.
