Chennai, April 1 -- As as the deadline for filing nominations for the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections draws to a close on Monday with only a three-day widow available, both the Congress, part of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) and the BJP, part of the AIADMK-led NDA, the delay in announcing their candidates still continued at a time when other political parties have taken a lead in completing this process and has hit the campaign trail.

The delay in releasing the list by Congress and the BJP is in stark contrast to the ruling DMK and the principal opposition AIADMK as well as their other allies who have released their list and took to the streets for the campaign.
