Shimla, Nov. 5 -- The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government's decision to defer the Gram Panchayat elections on the grounds of disaster management has landed in legal trouble, as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Himachal Pradesh High Court challenging the delay.

Advocates Dikkan Kumar Thakur and Happy Thakur approached the court on Tuesday, questioning the government's intention to postpone the elections indefinitely under the Disaster Management Act. The PIL urges the court to direct the State Election Commission to hold the polls within the constitutional timeframe.
