Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 20 -- Kerala Health Minister Veena George has ordered a detailed investigation after surgical scissors were discovered in a woman's abdomen years after a hysterectomy at the Government Medical College Hospital, Vandanam.
The patient, Usha Joseph, underwent the surgery in May 2021 but continued to suffer from persistent abdominal pain and urinary complications.
The matter came to light after she underwent an X-ray examination in which a metallic object was detected inside her abdomen, which was later identified as a surgical scissor allegedly left behind during the 2021 operation, sources said.
