New Delhi, Dec. 10 -- : Sharing the excitement of the country-men in recognising Deepavali as Intangible Heritage of the World by the UNESCO, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the event marked the recognition of the soul of Indian civilisation.
UNESCO's intergovernmental committee for safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage which is in session in Delhi from Monday announced this important decision. India's Deepavali festival has been selected from a total of 67 nominations submitted by nearly 80 countries.
On Wednesday morning, UNESCO, in a congratulatory post on X, declared the inscription of Deepavali on the Intangible Heritage List of the UN agency.
