Chennai, Oct. 9 -- With the death of 20 childrenin Madhya Pradesh aftert they weregiven Coldrif cough syrup, the owner of the Pharma firm, which manufactured it was arrestedtoday, even as Tamil Nadu government has initiated steps to permanently seal the factorylocated in neighbouring Kancheepurm district.
A Special Team from Madhya Pradesh today arrested G. Ranganathan, the owner of SresanPharmaceuticals.
In a related development, two Drug Inspectors were also arrested for failing to coduct qualitychecks during the last two years at the facility located near Sriperumudur, about 40 km fromhere.
As the deaths sent shock waves across the nation, the cough syrup was immediately bannedand steps were initiated to halt its production.
