Nagpur, Dec. 8 -- The political climate in the winter capital of the state heated up on the opening day of the winter session of Maharashtra Assembly, as four separate groups staged rallies across the city to press their demands ranging from social justice to rehabilitation for project-affected residents.
The groups included Vidarbha Viklang Sangharsh Samiti, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vikas Manch, Yuva Shaikshanik va Samajik Nyay Sangathan and Dindora Prakalpgrast Sangharsh Samiti marched with banners, placards and drums, calling for prompt government action on welfare, education, employment and land compensation issues.
Authorities deployed significant police presence, set up barricades and implemented crowd control measures.
