Kolkata, Nov. 25 -- The Calcutta High Court has held that a daughter who separates from her husband after her father's death is not eligible to receive a share of her maternal family's pension.
The ruling was delivered on Monday by a division bench comprising Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Partha Sarathi Sen, and the order was uploaded online on Tuesday.
During the hearing, the daughter's counsel, Chandreyi Alam, argued that her client was in a financially vulnerable position and, as a dependent daughter, should be entitled to her late father's family pension.
