New Delhi, July 24 -- A new study published in The Lancet Public Health has claimed that walking 7,000 steps each day is linked to substantial health benefits: A 47% lower risk of all-cause mortality, a 25% reduction in the incidence of cardiovascular disease, a 47% decrease in cardiovascular disease-related deaths, and a 37% drop in cancer mortality.
In fact, the benefit list is longer. This simple daily habit, according to the study titled 'Daily steps and health outcomes in adults: a systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis,' could dramatically reduce dementia by 38%, and decrease depression symptoms by 22%.
