Hyderabad, May 2 -- In a significant breakthrough, the Cyber Crime Police of Cyberabad have successfully facilitated the refund of cryptocurrency lost by a Hyderabad resident in an online investment fraud, marking a first-of-its-kind recovery in the region.
The case was registered on February 2, 2024, under Crime No. 603/2024, under Section 420 of the IPC and Section 66-D of the IT Act, 2000-2008, based on a complaint filed by a victim who was duped in a cryptocurrency scam through a fake online trading scheme.
According to the Cyberabad police statement on Friday, the victim was added to a fraudulent WhatsApp group named "MC-VIP-BTC-GROUP-888/702," where he was encouraged to participate in cryptocurrency trading using a third-party appli...
