Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 17 -- In a major boost to India's fight against diabetes and malnutrition, the CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram, is set to transfer its breakthrough high-protein, low glycaemic index (GI) designer rice technology to Tata Consumer Products Limited and SS Soul Foods, Tamil Nadu.

The formal technology transfer will take place during the "CSIR-NIIST Tech Connect: From Lab to Market" programme at CSIR Headquarters, New Delhi, on February 18, 2026.

The initiative marks a significant milestone in the commercialisation of indigenous food innovations developed under the aegis of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
