Puducherry, Feb. 11 -- Volunteers of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Tuesday resorted to a novel agitation to register their protest against the failure of the government to rectify a damaged road.

According to party volunteers, a crater was formed in the middle of the road at Reddiyarpalayam nearly a month ago.

Even though, the matter was brought to the authorities, no action was taken to fill up the crater and it invited several accidents.

They later submitted a memorandum to Assembly Deputy Speaker M N R Balan who is the legislator from the area. However, he too initiated no action.

Following this, the volunteers garlanded the crater, lit incense sticks and paid homage. UNI PAB CS 1520
