New Delhi, Jan. 28 -- The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Tuesday raised sharp political, economic and democratic concerns at an all-party meeting convened ahead of the Budget Session of Parliament, demanding urgent Central intervention to address what it described as growing federal stress, erosion of electoral integrity and livelihood insecurity.
The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, was attended by leaders of major political parties. The CPI was represented by Rajya Sabha MP P Sandosh Kumar, who pressed for a Special Fiscal Correction Package for Kerala, citing a severe resource shortfall of over Rs 21,000 crore this financial year due to borrowing constraints imposed by the Centre.
