Hyderabad, March 24 -- The CPI on Tuesday demanded immediate issuance of title deeds to poor families residing on government and Bhoodan lands and warned of strong resistance against any attempts to demolish their huts.

Addressing a massive dharna held at Indira Park as part of the "Chalo Assembly" programme, CPI leaders said the government must also sanction Rs 5 lakh under the Indiramma Housing Scheme to enable beneficiaries construct permanent houses.

CPI State Secretary and MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said the party would continue its agitation until land rights are secured for the poor, while National Secretary Palla Venkat Reddy asserted that the party would not tolerate eviction of hut dwellers.
