Kannur, Dec. 18 -- The Thalassery Additional Session Court on Wednesday sentenced a newly-elected BJP municipal councilor and nine others to 10 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in connection with a 2007 attempt to murder case involving a CPI(M) worker P Rajesh.
The Court awarded a cumulative sentence of 36 years under various sections of the IPC. However, all sentences will run concurrently, resulting in a total imprisonment term of ten years.
Those convicted include U Prasanth (49), the proposed councilor from the Kommal Vayal ward of Thalassery Municipality, and nine other BJP/RSS workers.
