Nagpur, March 15 -- A consumer commission here has directed Axis Bank to refund Rs 5,000 and pay an additional Rs 10,000 as compensation to a customer after a failed ATM transaction dating back eight years, holding the bank responsible for "deficiency in service".
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Additional DCF), Nagpur observed that the issue of cash not being dispensed despite the amount being debited from the customer's bank account was a serious matter and said banks are duty-bound to promptly examine such cases and provide relief to affected customers.
