Lucknow, Feb. 17 -- Tension prevailed outside the state office of the Congress in Lucknow on Monday as party workers attempting to march towards the state Assembly were stopped by police, leading to clashes and heavy scuffling.
The protest was called by Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai over issues including MGNREGA, remarks related to Shankaracharya, and Mata Ahilyabai Holkar. With the Budget session currently underway, police intensified security arrangements around the Assembly and the Congress office.
